Organisers say besides those who have pledged to take part in the event to raise awareness of climate change, thousands other observed it in their own way.
More than 2,000 people were at the Esplanade Park to see hotels and office buildings in the area switch off their lights for one hour. Thousands more took part in activities in the heartlands, organised by Singapore’s community development councils.
Earth Hour is a global initiative by the World Wide Fund for Nature to highlight global warming and climate change.

T1W10 Journal Writing : Sports and School Sports Day
To me i love sports. For me sports is very important. As people who are overweight can lose weight. And also it is a very healthy exercise.i just only took part in m school sports day.and i got second prize.i was proud of myself.i practised very hard with my dad as he was a National runner in his teenage years.i really salute my dad as while running, he could also cope in his studies.and he went to express after his PSLE.as far as i knw,you can do any sports as you want but you have to always remember to concentrate on your studies.because without a degree in studies, you cannot do anything in Singapore.i had an very bad experience last year.i was selected to join my school's track and field CCA.i was too into the trainings and came home everyday at around 7p.m and hardly had time to tudy for my exams.and by the End-Of -Year Examinations i really started to cry.i flung in all my important subjects.and my mom stopped me from taking any CCA's this year.i am so sad.but i know that this year i am taking my PSLE Examiniations and i know whatever my mom is doing it is for my own good.this year i have decided to concentrate on my studies.i have sacrificed my most favourite hobbies unil my PSLE Examinations are over.i want to go to Ang Mo Kio Secondary School Express Stream next year.i have this goal and dream in my mind for more than 5 years already.i will do it and show it to everyone.and will never dissapoint my parents....

a friendship story
Two inseparable friends, Sam and Jason, met with an accident on their way to Boston City. The following morning, Jason woke up blind and Sam was still unconscious. Dr. Berkeley was standing at his bedside looking at his health chart and medications with a thoughtful expression on his face. When he saw Sam awake, he beamed at him and asked." How are you feeling today Sam?" Sam tried to put up a brave face and smiled back saying, "absolutely wonderful Doctor. I am very grateful for all that you have done for me. "Dr Berkeley was moved at Sam's deed. All that he could say was, "You are a very brave man Sam and God will make it up to you in one way or another". While he was moving on to the next patient, Sam called back at him almost pleading, "promise me you won't tell Jason anything"."You know I won't do that. Trust me." and walked away."Thank you " whispered Sam. He smiled and looked up in prayer " I hope I live up to your ideas...please give me the strength to be able to go through this..Amen"Months later when Jason had recuperated considerably, he stopped hanging around with Sam. He felt discouraged and embarrassed to spend time with a disabled person like Sam.Sam was lonely and disheartened ,since he didn't have any body else other than Jason to count on. Things went from bad to worse. And one day Sam died in despair. When Jason was called on his burial, he found a letter waiting for him. Dr Berkeley gave it to him with an expressionless face and said" This is for you Jason. Sam had asked me to give it to you when he was gone". In the letter he had said: " Dear Jason, I have kept my promise in the end to lend you my eyes if anything had happened to them. Now there is nothing more that I can ask from God, than the fact ,that will see the world through my eyes. You will always be my best friend........Sam".When he had finished reading Dr. Berkeley said " I had promised Sam to keep his sacrifice he made a secret from you. But now I wish I didn't stick it Because I don't think It was worthy it" . All that was left for Jason while he stood there was tears of regret and memories of Sam for the rest of his life . Lesson of the story: No matter what If we make a friend, we should stick by him till the end. Life is meaningless without a friend. do you like my story????????

total defence competition
Since its inception in 1984, Total Defence has been adopted as the way Singaporeans come together to respond to challenges and build a strong society and nation. In commemorating 25 years of Total Defence, the logo has been given a tweak to stay in tune with a more modern feel while retaining its familiar identity. The tagline "It's Personal. Play your Part." is in a handwritten font that emphasises the personal nature of our involvement in Total Defence, reminding Singaporeans that everyone has a role in protecting the Singaporean way of life. The rounder edges of the logo give it a softer touch, reflecting the personal stake in Total Defence and encouraging Singaporeans to embrace Total Defence in their daily lives.
